Alexander Isak ‘could tear up Newcastle contract’ and join Liverpool as deadline passes

Newcastle still plays hardball about Alexander Isak, because the player remains in strike about his failure to seal a move to Liverpool – and there is less than a week left for him to secure an exit for deadline day

Alexander Isak could theoretically delete his Newcastle contract and sign for Liverpool on a free transfer because of a Maas in FIFAs regulations, according to reports.

The Swedish striker will be sought by Liverpool this summer, but the Reds have rejected a bid of £ 110 million and the player himself has been strike out of protest about his failure to seal an exit.

Isak accused Newcastle of “broken promises” about a move, but the club was fired back by insisting that they have never guaranteed that he would be sold in this transfer window.

Both clubs played each other in St James' Park on Monday evening when Liverpool sealed a dramatic 3-2 victory through teen Rio Ngumoha in the last minute, where Isak in the team was missing.

Baas Eddie Howe and Captain Bruno Guimaraes have both called to an end to the Transfersaga, so that the team can concentrate on the coming season and all eyes will be on Isak the next week when we approach the Deadline Day. It emerged on Tuesday that Isak held crisis interviews with the owners of the club and he maintains his position that he wants to become a member of Liverpool this summer.

There have been questions about whether Isak could take the 'nuclear option' and could tear his Newcastle contract to continue for free with a move to Liverpool, although FIFA rules mean that players would be confronted with serious sanctions to take such an unthinkable step.

The rules state that a player could receive a prohibition of all football activity if he can tear up his contract “without just” within a protected period of three years for players under the age of 28.

Since Isak is 25, his protected period ended on 26 August 2025 – three years after taking £ 63 million for a six -year -old deal.

In theory, this means that Isak could end the contract without any punishment from FIFA, according to four four two. But the report adds that for Isak it would be far from easy to take those measures, because the principles of the English contract law would still apply.

Although Isak would not be forced to play for Newcastle, a legal order can be obtained that prevents him from playing somewhere else. Newcastle would also be within their right to request compensation from the player because of a breach of contract.

In 2014, the former Arsenal and Chelsea star Lassana Diarra ended his contract with Lokomotiv Moscow and was suspended for 15 months to football. The player was also ordered to pay £ 8.5 million in compensation to the Russian club by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The future of Isak can also depend on whether Newcastle will get a new attacker through the door. They have rejected two bids for Brentford's Yoane Wissa and also saw a £ 50 million offered for Wolves star Jorgen Strand Larsen.
