Alexander Isak's future remains in the air, with less than a week to go in the transfer window while the Newcastle striker continues to insist on a move to Liverpool
Liverpool is ready to make a second offer for Alexander Isak, but are not willing to do this if there is no chance that Newcastle will accept it. The Magpies have already rejected an offer of £ 110 million from Liverpool and have tried to convince Isak to stay.
The striker, however, remains unclear that he wants to leave for Liverpool this summer, after having accused Newcastle of breaking promises they made him. “I kept silent for a long time while others spoke,” Isak said last week.
“That silence has enabled people to push their own version of events, although they know that it does not reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises have been made and the club had known my position for a long time.
“To pretend that these problems are only on the rise, it is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot go on. That is where things are now for me and why change in the best interest of everyone is, not just me.”
Isak met Newcastle Chiefs on Monday to discuss his future and the striker informed them that he has no desire to stay in St James' park. Isak is determined to stay on strike until he gets his move to Liverpool or the transfer window closes.
The report adds that Liverpool is not willing to pay the asking price of £ 150 million from Newcastle, but are ready to make a different offer if they receive 'encouragement' from the Magpies. However, it is said that Newcastle refuses to punish the move unless Liverpool meets their requirements.
They also want to sign two new strikers before they leave Isak, but a definitive decision about the Saga will be made chairman Yasir al-RaMayyan who was present for the dramatic 3-2 defeat from Newcastle to Liverpool on Monday.
“I have not been a party to talk about this now,” said Newcastle -Baas Eddie Howe after the game. “So I prepared the team and gave all my energy to the players who want to play for Newcastle.
“I think that is where my energy is best. I am not a party with the conversations that happened, so I have no idea where that is. From our side we want clarity, we want to continue.
“We want the story to change because we are now at the start of the season, we are in the action and we have to achieve results and we have to try to concentrate on what we can check.”
