Al-Hilal set sights on late summer move for Barcelona starlet

Barcelona focuses on outputs while continuing their efforts to save the funds needed to register all their first team players. A number of fringe stars have been tipped to leave before the transfer window closes on Monday, and one of them could be Alexis Olmedo.

There have already been several central defenders who left Barcelona this summer, with the large Inigo Martinez. In addition, Barca Atletic star Eman Kospo and Sergi Dominguez left to join Fiorentina and Dinamo Zagreb respectively, and now Olmedo could be the following.

Olmedo is expected to be a starter for Barca Atletic during the 2025-26 season, and in the case of first team injuries he and Andres Cuenca could best be placed to be called by Hansi Flick. But instead of getting a chance in the senior team, he could be at Martinez when moving to Saudi Arabia.

According to Jijantes (via Sport), Olmedo is interested in Al-Hilal. A study was started by the Saudi Pro League Giants to determine the conditions of a possible sale, for which Barcelona could be open.

Olmedo is not so high in Can Barca as Cuenca, so there is room for him to let go. And further on, he has entered the last two years of his Barcelona contract, and so far no movements have been made to bind him to a new deal.

The situation with Olmedo could keep an eye on in the coming weeks, given that the Saudi Arabic transfer window is not closed at the same time as the European. That means that Barcelona could lose the teenager without being able to replace him, which would not be ideal.
