Vincent Kompany says that Bayern Munich has a bigger hunger than normal to win the DFB-Pokal this season, which has struggled in the competition in recent years.
Bayern last lifted the DFB-Pokal trophy in 2019-2020, with their best finish since a run to the quarterfinals in 2022-23, when they were eliminated by Freiburg
Last season Bayern was beaten 1-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16, making Kompany even more determined to get the title in his hands.
During this run, Bayern is locked up three times on the second round, with two of those against Lower League teams.
Bayern starts their cup campaign against 3 on Wednesday. League side Wehen Wiesbaden, and Kompany has faith in the quality of his side for the collision.
“It's not an old game,” said Kompany.
“The hunger is greater if the time since the last trophy victory is now even longer. [Wednesday] Is the first final; That's the most important thing.
“We know that we are the best team in Germany in terms of quality. However, that is not enough.
“In the DFB Pokal it is also about wanting to want the more than the others. The motivation must always be there, even against teams with a lower league-alleen then you can avoid slip-ups.”

Kompany hinted that he does not intend to make wholesale changes for the game, with Bayern High for trust after a stunning 6-0 win over RB Leipzig in their Bundesliga opener on Friday.
However, they have one doubt, after Leon Goretzka has turned his only somewhat against Leipzig.
“If Leon Goretzka comes through the last training session, he will normally be involved,” Kompany added. “Everyone who has recently been available is still available.”
