Real Madrid eye another star signing on free transfer from Bundesliga

In the past five years, Real Madrid has made it a habit of collecting the best free agents in European football, and the European top clubs are well linked to their ability to do this. In recent years, Bayern Munich has seen two of their stars focused on Los Blancos and saw a third in the sights of President Florentino Perez.

Los Blancos wants to add a second central defender next summer after the signing of Dean Huijsen, and Ibrahima Konate in Liverpool is heavily connected to that role. Arsenal defender William Saliba is another name that is strongly mentioned as one of their preferred goals.

The next on their list is perhaps Dayot Upamecano. The French International is from the contract next summer, and contract discussions have been set out due to disagreements about the conditions, whereby Upamecano likes an increase in its € 16 million per year deal (gross). So far, Bayern is not willing to admit to his requirements.

According to Bild, Real Madrid is interested in Upamecano and has made the possibility of a free transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu who knows him. Los Blancos has previously wiped David Alaba away from Bayern, although Bayern won the battle for the signature of Alphonso Davies this year.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also aware of the situation and interested in a possible relocation for Upamecano next summer. It is unlikely that one of the parties involved has made a fixed decision to pursue the 26-year-old at the moment, but his agents will certainly explore the market and which offers are available to him. Real Madrid will lose David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger next summer, unless their plans change, which means that they will be on the market for at least another defender.
