Ruben Amorim knows that something has to change in Manchester United after their shameful EFL cup fuss against Grimsby Town, and he knows that it cannot be other overhaul of their team.
After taking one point from their first two games of the Premier League season, United was expected to get a result against the fourth grade opposition in Blundell Park.
But despite the fact that Amorim new attackers started Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, with Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes who come from the bank during the rest, his reign hit a new low point.
United collected a 2-2 draw from 2-0 to Salvage, but lost 12-11 in a penalty shoot-out, with £ 130 million duo Cunha and Mbeumo both failed.
The Red Devils had never failed in the fourth grade teams in the EFL Cup, and this is just their second second round exit from the competition since 1981-82 (also 1995-96 against York City and 2014-15 versus MK Dons).
The result stacked further pressure on Amorim and he knows that there will soon be a hunger for change.
“I was shocked because we are at a time when we make many changes,” Amorim told ITV Sport. “We try to fight many things, but when we have these moments, we have to show up.
“If we don't show up, you can feel that something needs to change and you will no longer change 22 players.”

Amorim did not see the penalty shoot-out, sitting in the dugout that looked depressed everywhere, and he felt how the spot kicks went not relevant.
“It doesn't matter if we are recovered or not. It is the signs that the team made during the game, especially the start of the game,” Amorim said.
“I know that the best team won, the only team that was on the field. Losing the best players, because one team can win against every group of players.
“I think the team and the players today spoke very loudly. The way we started the game without any intensity, we were completely lost.”
United host Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, after he had only gathered six points since the beginning of April in the competition-the least of every always present club.
Amorim spoke with BBC Radio 5 Live: “I have no more answers. I don't even have anything to say. I just want to apologize with our fans. I'm really sorry.”
