Manchester United shortlist Spanish manager in event of Ruben Amorim sacking

The misery of Manchester United continued on Wednesday evening with a shock destruction in the League Cup to Grimsby Town on penalties. While the pressure on Ruben is Amorim, the club seems to put together unforeseen plans.

After their exit in a shameful way, the Ineos Group asked the football department to prepare a shortlist of potential replacements if it is necessary to dismiss Amorim. According to Indykaila, that is written on caught offside. The Portuguese manager was brought in with a large money deal from Sporting CP, but patience bears thin after a 16th place.

One of the names on that shortlist is Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola. The Basque coach has earned widespread compliments for his work in the Premier League and was one of the candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou in the Europa League Final -opponents of United, but has been successful in the more modest Mirandes and then Rayo Vallecano in Spain. Another name on the Shortlist is Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner.

Iraola was already announced for his work in Spain before making the leap to Bournemouth. It is always considered a fact that at some point he will coach the Basque Giants Athletic Club, because of his close ties with the club, which has spent almost all his play career at San Mames. However, with Ernesto Valverde the leadership, Athletic does not need a new coach in recent years.

Barcelona has also decided to check his progress in the past few years, while Real Madrid was also on the shortlist earlier this year as an external candidate in the event that Xabi Alonso did not come to the club. The stock of Iraola is certainly high and it is no surprise that the top clubs of Europe take note.
