‘They’re bantering us off the face of the earth’ moan MU fans

Manchester United fans remained a red face after their side after “beaten by the fish”.

Grimsby Town dumped the six-time League Cup champions from the tournament on Wednesday evening in one of the greatest disturbances of all time.

The League Two Mariners held up after giving up their lead of two goals in normal time to numb their illustrious rivals into an incredible 12-11 penalty shootout victory.

It was Man Utd's £ 71 million arrival in the summer Bryan Mbeumo, with his second spot kick from the epic shootout, who hit the bar to give Grimsby their wonder win.

Cue wanted scenes in Blundell Park while supporters invaded the field to celebrate with their heroes.

Football fans in the entire province also loved it, with hundreds of Everton and Mansfield supporters filmed watching the shootout on TV via a pub window after their own collision.

And the Grimsby Social Media team clearly also got carried away.

They shared a hilarious picture of a banner with the words “you just beaten by the fish”.

The caption was accompanied by a photographed fish on top of a black and white striped flag.

The post is inspired by the viral chicken version that has been spamed by Bradford fans throughout the season.

Even United fans admitted that they are “broken from the earth of the earth.”

A posted: “Yes, fair enough Grimsby, honest enough.”

A second wrote: “We deserve that.”

Another said, “This is just humiliating.”

A fourth said, “Grimsby Town was just man United in the man was not fried.”

While one concluded, “They are now tearing us from the face of the earth.”

It was demonstrably the biggest upset of United since the 1995/96 season when they were defeated by York City.

The ministers defeated the Sir Alex Ferguson team, which consisted of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Lee Sharpe, among others.

York returned to a 3-0 win in Old Trafford thanks to two goals from Harvey Barnes' father Paul and one from Tony Barras.

Grimsby has been rewarded with another big game in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
