Grimsby Town dumped the six-time League Cup champions from the tournament on Wednesday evening in one of the greatest disturbances of all time.
The League Two Mariners held up after giving up their lead of two goals in normal time to numb their illustrious rivals into an incredible 12-11 penalty shootout victory.

Even United fans admitted that they are “broken from the earth of the earth.”

A second wrote: “We deserve that.”
Another said, “This is just humiliating.”
A fourth said, “Grimsby Town was just man United in the man was not fried.”
While one concluded, “They are now tearing us from the face of the earth.”
It was demonstrably the biggest upset of United since the 1995/96 season when they were defeated by York City.
