There are only four days to go until the summer transfer window is closed, and there is still a lot of uncertainty about Barcelona. Their inability to register such as Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Martin have led them to consider selling Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez – and in the case of the latter he could be on his way to the Premier League.
Earlier this week, Chelsea submitted an opening offer of € 50 million for Fermin, who studied a contract proposal at the Premier League side. And although that was rejected by Barcelona, it has since been reported that they are willing to go up to € 65 million.
However, this is nothing compared to what colleague Premier League -side Newcastle United is willing to pay, with El Chiringuito reporting that the St James' Park Club is willing to reach € 100 million.
If this offer was officially submitted by Newcastle, there is little doubt that Barcelona would accept. It is believed that they ask € 70 million to leave the 22-year-old midfielder, so this would be a lot above here.
However, it would also be less likely that Fermin would be open to participation – at least compared to Chelsea, although he would probably receive more playing time in the Eddie Howe team. And this could be a key factor whether the Spain International would be willing to leave Barcelona in exchange for moving to northeastern England.
Newcastle, who will organize Barcelona in the competition phase of this season's Champions League, will have the money to spend on Fermin, since they are expected to sell Alexander Isak after signing Nick Woltemade as his replacement. However, it would be unlikely that they offer € 100 million, given the reported asking price.
