Newcastle close in on £65m deal set to open door for Alexander Isak’s Liverpool transfer

Newcastle is looking for a striker all summer, abuse of Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, but now Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade is on the way to St James' Park

Newcastle has been set to break their transfer record after a £ 65 million compensation agreed with Stuttgart to sign Nick Woltemade. The deal could turn out to be an important turning point in the Saga involving Alexander Isak, which is banned in the midst of his desire to become a member of Liverpool.

Woltemade, 23, is heavily connected to a move to Bayern Munich during the summer after an impressive campaign with Germany at the European championship under 21. The attacker scored six goals and offered three assists when his nation reached the final, just to lose England in extra time.

Allegedly, Bayern has made three bids for Woltemade, each of which was rejected by Stuttgart. Newcastle has now arrived and seem to have successfully closed their long search for a striker.

The magpies were rejected by their two most important goals; Hugo Ektike, who signed for Liverpool, and Benjamin Sesko, who became a member of Manchester United. Other players who looked at Newcastle are Brentford Star Yoane Wissa and Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.

But Woltemade is on his way to St James' Park to complete a movement, after he said goodbye in Stuttgart on Thursday. It is understanding that Newcastle De Bundesliga club will pay an initial £ 60.5 million plus £ 4.5 million in potential add-ins.

The arrival of Woltemade can have a direct impact on the future of Isak, where the Magpies rejected an £ 110 million from Liverpool earlier this month. Although Newcastle was always aimed at an attacker to replace Callum Wilson of the second choice, who left in June at the end of his contract, the club record compensation suggests that Eddie Howe believes that Wolade can step into the shoes of Isak.

Liverpool has to do another follow -up bid with five more days on the Summer Transfer window. Isak is still training away from the first team of the Magpies and this week in new showdown conversations with the Newcastle hierarchy he repeated his desire to leave.

After Isak – the current record recovery of Newcastle at £ 63 million – missed the 3-2 defeat on Monday at home in Liverpool, Howe has published an update on the future of the Swede. “I have no idea where (Isak) is on this second,” the Magpies manager admitted.

Should Newcastle now sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool? Say in the commentary part.

“The ideal from the side of Newcastle is that we want clarity, we want to go further. We want the story to change. We are now at the start of the season and we have to get results and try to concentrate on what we can check. We have given two really good versions and only took one point. That is difficult for us to take.

“The quality of Alex would have made a difference in the two competitions, that cannot be denied. But that said that the team was functioning well and the performance did not happen without each part of the team functioning well.”
