Since taking over as Barcelona head coach from Xavi Hernandez this summer, Hansi Flick has chosen to look inward in his squad planning. Numerous La Masia talents have been called up to the first team over the course of the season so far, with the likes of Marc Casado, Marc Bernal and Gerard Martin earning regular places in the squad.
There could be more to come in the coming months, and one player who could be in contention is Jan Virgili. The 18-year-old winger has been in excellent form for Barcelona's U19 side this season, and that continued earlier this week when he scored a Lionel Messi-esque solo goal against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Youth League.
According to Sport, Flick is keeping an eye on Virgili's development as he is one of the players who has caught his eye in the club's youth set-up.
Virgili is a left winger, and this is a position that is relatively open in Barcelona's first team – apart from the starting spot, that of Raphinha. This could give the teenager a chance at promotion at some point this season.
