Carlo Ancelotti gives strong take on Pep Guardiola slump at Manchester City

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is no stranger to the ups and downs of football. He has had a long career at the top of football, and one of his famous rivals is certainly having the most difficult moment of his career with Pep Guardiola. However, the Italian coach had little advice to help him.

Last week, Ancelotti told the press that they had been too harsh on him, and that some of the criticism was personal. He was asked if Real Madrid's hotseat was the one that 'burns' the most.

“Everyone is burning, everyone has their problems. It's normal. Real Madrid's bench is burning, of course, but just like the rest,” Ancelotti told the press.

He was also asked about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his thoughts on their recent slump following another defeat to Juventus.

'I'm not giving him advice, no. My opinion of him doesn't change because of the latest results. He has been an innovator. We can control many things, but not the results of the games. And for him, the results have undoubtedly been very good in recent years.”

He was again asked whether the press had been too scathing towards him.

“We're going to compete and fight for everything, that's what I know. Things are starting to improve, as you can see. Alaba and Camavinga are almost back and we will fight for everything despite the difficulties due to injuries.”

“We are going to analyze what we can do better. But as you can see, things are starting to get better. We are excited about the return of Camavinga and Alaba, but we will fight for everything.”

With Los Blancos likely to be in the play-off round of the Champions League and Manchester City on the brink of qualification, it is not inconceivable that Guardiola and Ancelotti meet again in February. Real Madrid are back in action on Saturday evening at 9pm CEST in a crosstown derby against Rayo Vallecano. Camavinga is ready to be fit for that match, but Kylian Mbappe will miss it due to a hamstring problem.
