Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez as a January transfer option.
The Red Devils are expected to invest heavily in strengthening their squad in the coming months as new boss Ruben Amorim targets a renewal at Old Trafford.
One of the key positions that needs strengthening is the left-back position due to Luke Shaw's ongoing injury problems.
According to reports from Teamtalk.com, Gutierrez has now emerged as an option, with the defender including a €35 million release clause in his contract in Catalonia.
However, negotiating a potential deal for Gutierrez is not easy as former Real Madrid also retain interest in him.
Los Blancos still have a 50% sell-on clause in Gutierrez's contract, as well as an eight million euro buy-back clause, as part of their sale of the 22-year-old to Girona in 2022.
Gutierrez is expected to demand assurances over his first-team role before considering a move, with Real Madrid unsure of their long-term plans at left-back.
