Thomas Frank believes Chelsea may be “the best team in the Premier League right now” as he prepares to take Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Blues are currently on a six-match winning streak in all competitions and are unbeaten in seven Premier League games since their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in mid-October.
Chelsea have won each of their last four Premier League games, and the last three, while scoring three or more goals in each match.
Enzo Maresca's side are in second place for next weekend, just four points behind leaders Liverpool, despite having played a game more.
Chelsea is also the top scorer in the Premier League, with 35 goals, four more than second-best Brentford.
“They may even be in better shape than Liverpool, even though they are top of the league,” said Frank.
“They are playing incredible football and are well coached. Maresca has done a great job with its coaching staff so far and they look extremely dangerous.”
Brentford have had the best home form in the Premier League this season, dropping just two points at the Gtech Community Stadium, but they have struggled on their travels.
On the road in the top flight, they have taken just one point from a possible 21 in a 0-0 draw against Everton.
However, the Bees have won all three of their away Premier League games against Chelsea. The last team to win four consecutive top-flight away games against the Blues was Leeds United (six between 1973 and 1991).
“[Chelsea] have so many threats going forward and have top quality players all over the pitch. I expect an incredibly difficult match,” he added.
“They are huge favorites, but of course we believe that we can compete against anyone and that we can win.”
