In the coming weeks, Barcelona could call on Andreas Christensen, who has been out since August after surgery on a nasty Achilles tendon injury. He was partly involved in training with the group earlier this week, so his return to action may not be far away.
Once Christensen returns, Hansi Flick would have five central defensive options: Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Ronald Araujo, Christensen and Eric Garcia. Given that Barcelona are also already in the process of signing Jonathan Tah for next summer, this opens the door for the departure of one of these players.
According to Sport, Garcia is most likely to leave and could even leave the club next month.
Garcia was used as a makeshift midfielder earlier this season as Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, among others, were injured, but now that almost everyone is back, this means his profile is very low. Barcelona needs to make turnovers to balance the books, and his makes sense.
