Newcastle have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign one of the Premier League's most exciting attacking talents, according to a report.
The superstar is valued at a whopping £90million and has an £85million release clause in his contract.
Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his forward line as Newcastle sit 11th in the Premier League having scored just 23 goals – one fewer than relegation battlers Wolves.
It is thought the Magpies will have to make sales in January to help fund a deal for West Ham player Mohammed Kudus, according to The Mirror.
Despite the departures of Elliot Anderson (£35m) and Yankuba Minteh (£30m) in the summer, Newcastle are still concerned about potential breaches of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR).
The club are keen to continue removing so-called 'dead wood' to raise funds, with 30-year-old Miguel Almiron a leading candidate to leave St James' Park in the upcoming January transfer window.
Newcastle have been long-time admirers of Kudus, having followed the 24-year-old's progress since his days at Danish side FC Nordsjaellat.
Their scouts were interested in his talents before West Ham secured his signature from Ajax in a £38 million contract in 2023.
Eddie Howe is pessimistic about Newcastle's chances of being active in January, citing PSR restrictions.
Unless significant sums are raised from the sale, a potential deal for Kudus is more likely to materialize in the summer of 2025.
“I keep saying the same thing about January, I didn't expect we would be in a position to be too active in the market,” Howe said.
'As we stand up now, things can change. You know, when we trade players, that's obviously different. But if we don't trade players, I expect us to be quiet.
'Of course PSR has had an effect on the club and we have not been able to strive and achieve as quickly as we initially wanted. That has been somewhat halted in various ways.
“I don't think anyone has the desire or desire to sell our best players. We would like to move the team forward in a positive way and not take a step back in any way. The best players we have, they are like gold dust. We must cherish them.'
