IFFHS AWARDS 2024 – WORLD MEN'S BEST PLAYER – RODRI
The IFFHS was the first to create the WORLD'S BEST PLAYER award in 1988. Marco Van Basten (2) and Lothar Matthaus were the three winners (1988 to 1990) before FIFA President Sepp Blatter asked the IFFHS this World Prize to become FIFA World Player of the Year. Since 2020, the IFFHS has decided to award the IFFHS WORLD'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR again.
After Robert Lewandowski (2020 and 2021), Lionel Messi (2022), Erling Haaland (2023), the year 2024 belongs to Rodri (191 points), who won the duel with Vinicius Jr (166 points). Also Ballon d'Or, Rodri was the man of the year 2024 with Manchester City and with Spain, he won all titles in England and the European Championship with Spain. Vinicius Jr. took second place ahead of his teammate Jude Bellingham. Lamine Yamal finished in 4th place ahead of last year's winner, Erling Haaland. Five Real Madrid players are among the top 10 in the world.
