The Spanish centre-back, who played with the Boca coach at Real Madrid, has been without a club since his contract with Sevilla expired.
Boca Juniors have concluded their 2024 season with the Buenos Aires giants finishing sixth in the table.
The club's thoughts now turn to the new season and with the transfer window opening in January, Sergio Ramos' name remains linked with Los Xeneizes. The defender has been a free agent since his contract with Sevilla expired last summer.
Sergio Ramos and Boca coach Fernando Gago were teammates at Real Madrid for four and a half seasons and the seemingly positive relationship between the two men only accentuates the Spanish defender's rumored signing for Boca.
After Boca's last game of the season (against Independiente, 0-0), Gago was asked about the chances of Ramos joining the Argentina squad. The Boca coach stated: “I have not spoken to anyone about this”, adding: “You will have a lot of fun on the subject of reinforcements in the next 15 or 20 days…”.
“We will look for players who can contribute to what we consider necessary. We will look for the advantage of the collective, regardless of the names that may come in. Reinforcements are coming and leaving, that makes sense. There will be time to work on that,” Gago added.
Local Argentinian outlet TyC claims that Boca Juniors' board plans to approach Sergio Ramos to find out whether he intends to continue his professional career and, if they receive an affirmative answer, whether he is considering the possibility of signing for To play Boca.
