Brighton 1-3 Crystal Palace: Ismaila Sarr scores twice

Ismaila Sarr was Crystal Palace's hero with an excellent two-goal performance to give his side a memorable 3-1 win over rivals Brighton.

Sarr scored the second goal of a six-minute Palace double during the first half before capping a stunning performance by adding a third goal late in the second half.

Palace, now four points above the relegation zone, became the latest side in the bottom five to have failed to beat Brighton, now winless in fourth and ninth, this season, joining Ipswich, Wolves, Southampton and Leicester.

The hosts were rocked by a quick-fire double midway through the first period as Trevoh Chalobah headed in from close range from a corner before Sarr nodded home Tyrick Mitchell's left cross.

Brighton dominated the opening 25 minutes, although only forcing Dean Henderson into one meaningful save on Kaoru Mitoma's early low drive.

However, it was a sign of things to come from Henderson, who was excellent after the break as Brighton brought on Juilio Enciso and advanced to three at the back to launch wave after wave of attacks at the visiting goal.

Henderson rose to the challenge, parrying Lewis Dunk's header from a corner and then tipping Enciso's curling effort around the right post.

Palace weathered the storm and had Daniel Munoz's tap ruled out for a foul on Pervis Estupinan before Sarr drove through the center of the Brighton defense to finish coolly past Bart Verbruggen.

There was still time for Marc Guehi to be hit by a free ball in his own penalty area on a corner that guided the ball into the net for a consolation for Brighton before Henderson capped his fine performance with an extended save from Enciso's shot.
