According to Sky Italy, Napoli and Fiorentina are interested in signing Lyon midfielder Nemanja Matić (36) in the January transfer window. The Serbian international midfielder is no stranger to Serie A or Italy, having played for Roma between 2022 and 2023.
Matić has become a regular at OL since joining the Rennes club in the January transfer window. The 36-year-old has impressed with his performances at the base of midfield. However, the former Chelsea player's contract at the Groupama Stadium expires in June 2025 and this could make him a prime transfer target for other clubs.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is quite familiar with the OL defensive midfielder, having coached him during his time as Chelsea manager. Their past relationship is one of the influences behind the Naples team's interest. Despite the interest in his services, Matić is believed to be happy in Lyon and has a positive relationship with Pierre Sage.
