City ‘played like UNDER-15s’ in final stages against Utd, says Bernardo Silva

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva delivered a cruel verdict on his side's latest collapse, claiming Pep Guardiola's side 'played like under-15s' as they threw away a 1-0 lead to lose to Man United.

City were ahead as the clock struck 87 minutes thanks to Josko Gvardiol's first-half header.

But the league's faltering champions have been incredibly vulnerable of late and they saw that on display again as a Bruno Fernandes penalty and a 90th-minute winner from Amad Diallo saw Ruben Amorim's side take the spoils.

“We deserved what happened,” Silva told Sky Sports.

'At this level, a match or two is bad luck. We can't say this is good or bad luck – 10 games isn't about that.

'Minute 87 in a derby, win 1-0 and our corner ends in a penalty for them. If we make these stupid decisions with three or four minutes to go, you deserve to pay for it.

“When I look at the game, I think there was only one team that could win the game, but in the end we lost.”

Since November 1, no team in the Premier League has had worse points per game than Manchester City and that statistic is why Silva insists players should not feel sorry for themselves.

“It's not one game, it's a lot of games lately,” he added.

'We have to look at ourselves. You can say, oh, it's a bit of bad luck, no. It's the decisions you make. Today we played in the last minute as if we were under 15.

'We don't want to [mistakes] to happen. It's a bit frustrating because if you look at the game until the 86th minute, there was only one team that could win the game.

'Then from a corner for Man City you leave a central defender behind, Ruben stayed, but we end up with the ball with our keeper. There's no excuse for that.'

A furious Silva continued: 'If it happens in ten games, we have to look at ourselves and see what we can do better.

“There has to be communication so we can play short or keep the ball in the corner or something like that. If the ball goes to one of our midfielders, at least just put it in the corner. Don't put pressure on yourself.

'It's not just Matheus' pass to the goalkeeper. It's all about how Ruben's ball ends up [Dias] to Matheus [Nunes] and Kyle [Walker] we must do better. Be more experienced and smarter, at this level, even if you are better than the opponent. You deserve to lose the game.

'It is very normal that we are not very happy at the moment. Not just this game, but also the past month.

“We have to do better individually and collectively because these are not Manchester City standards.”

The result puts Manchester City in fifth place, nine points behind leaders Liverpool, who have played one game less.
