Cosmi insists it is clear that Milan wanted to go in a different direction under the Portuguese.
The former Udinese coach told Radio Serie A: “Milan made a strong choice in July, but very clear: they went for Fonseca even if they could have signed Sarri, Conte or Allegri. And instead they went for the Portuguese who had already coached.” Roma in Italy, but could have embodied the idea of something else.
“However, this did not happen and since it was a fairly strong choice, I think it is legitimate to defend this choice and the coach. Milan certainly do not have the minimum of continuity in the players who can determine the results: it is true that They created several chances yesterday, but at other times were too far away from a team that really wanted to win that game.”
About Fonseca's choices and the fans' protest, Cosmi continued: “Liberali, Jimenez and Camarda are guys who have sometimes taken on the role of provocative choices. I have always thought that you cannot get out of these kinds of situations. If you Camarda bets, then he always has to play… And instead Fonseca puts them in to provoke an incentive from the others, but I don't see this incentive.
“If you are not even stimulated by Fonseca's statements after Red Star, then you don't have that reaction, or you don't want it. With this group of players you obviously need a different kind of relationship, but we are already halfway through the season “This may not be a first-place team, but not even an eighth-place team.”
