Inter Milan coach Inzaghi happy to silence critics with Lazio rout

Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, Nicolò Barella, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram struck for the Nerazzurri that evening.

“Above all, it was important to beat a team that was in an excellent period of form. We didn't lose our shape in the first twenty minutes, then we raised the level and after the third goal it all went downhill,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

“These guys have given me this enormous effort for three and a half years, I am very proud to be their coach. We know we haven't achieved anything yet, but it's a very nice win against a team that was in top form.”

Based on his squad, Inzaghi also noted: “The verdict will be pronounced on the pitch.

“This is the way we prepared the match after Leverkusen, we knew Lazio's qualities and the boys had the right interpretation. Now we have a match in hand, after the last two in this year's Serie A we have the Supercoppa Italiana and it gets even more complicated.

“These guys deserve applause, because we have been playing non-stop for a month without Acerbi and Pavard, so we don't have that many options to rotate. I had also booked several players today, so I had to use Darmian as a central defender and he did it with great intelligence.

“There were a lot of people who, since we lost to Milan in September, couldn't wait for us to make a mistake, which we did in Leverkusen. A lot has been said, but fortunately my players and I don't listen to the media and just keep focusing on the game.”
