OFFICIAL: Tottenham appeal against Bentancur’s seven-game ban unsuccessful

OFFICIAL: Tottenham's appeal to reduce Rodrigo Bentancur's seven-match ban over comments about Son Heung-Min was unsuccessful.

The FA confirms that an independent appeals committee has rejected Spurs' appeal against Rodrigo Bentancur's suspension. It remains at seven games.

It means he will miss Sunday's PL match against Liverpool and return for Nottingham Forest on December 26.

An FA statement said: “An independent appeals committee has rejected an appeal by Rodrigo Bentancur in relation to his recent suspension.

“An independent regulatory commission has imposed a seven-match ban on the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder for a serious breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview.

“This appeal was dismissed following a hearing and the seven-match suspension remains as ordered by the Regulatory Commission.”
