Ian Wright fell down the stairs moments after hosting the Women’s Euros draw

Leonardo Bonucci and Sami Khedira rushed to Ian Wright's aid – after the Arsenal legend fell following the Women's European Championship draw, Mail Sport understands.

The 61-year-old, who underwent knee surgery seven weeks ago, had fixed the draw for next year's tournament at the Swiss Tech Convention Center in Lausanne.

Immediately after Monday night's show, he is said to have slipped down the stairs in an incident that startled concerned spectators and sent the Italian and German stars rushing to help.

Medics gave the Gunners an ice pack and he is believed to be in good health but grateful for the help of his fellow former internationals.

This morning Wright flew to Manchester as planned.

It emerged that the striker underwent knee replacement surgery earlier this year after arriving in a wheelchair for an episode of the Stick to Football podcast, in which fellow pundit and ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane saw him wheeled in, while former lioness Jill Scott joked that the pair looked like a sketch from Little Britain.

Some attendees at the event were surprised at how Wright, a well-known advocate for the women's game, was on his feet considering the relatively short time since his surgery.

The draw picked England, the reigning champions, to face France, Wales and the Netherlands in the tournament, which will take place in Switzerland.
