Barring any surprises, Barcelona will not be making any signings in the upcoming winter transfer window, although they could add to Hansi Flick's coaching staff.
Over the summer, former midfielder Thiago Alcantara – who recently retired after leaving Liverpool – temporarily returned to Barcelona to help Hansi Flick in his first few weeks at the Catalan giants. He left a very good impression and as such there is a lot of clamor to ensure he returns in 2025.
According to Marca, Thiago's potential return to Barcelona is seen as “close”. If he rejoins Flick's coaching staff, he would fill a different role than before as Arnau Blanco, who was his successor at the start of the season, will continue in the first team.
Barcelona need some inspiration after a difficult few weeks in La Liga, and Thiago could ultimately be the man to provide that – if he indeed returns to the Estadi Olimpic in January.
