It has been 18 months since construction of Spotify Camp Nou started. The project continues to generate a lot of excitement in Barcelona, even if it is not on schedule.
Barcelona had initially set a target of returning to their iconic home stadium by the end of 2024, although that will not happen now. There are genuine fears that they may not be able to return until the start of next season, although those within Can Barca remain hopeful that Hansi Flick's side can play their first match in February.
According to Relevo, some Barcelona officials see the match against Rayo Vallecano – scheduled for February 16 – as the first chance of a return to Spotify Camp Nou. However, that is seen as an “impossible dream”.
Limak continues to work on construction and has been told to prepare for the opening “as quickly as possible”. Barcelona will be desperate to return due to the finances associated with returning home, although they will certainly wait longer than expected.
