Man Utd fans unveil anti-Marcus Rashford banner in away end days

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have stormed Marcus Rashford with a banner after the star admitted he is ready to leave the club.

The Red Devils' supporters showed a message for their willing ace in the away leg during the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, a match in which Rashford had been left out.

The fans held up a banner reading: “Apologies. Ta ra, Marcus”, indicating they were happy to see Rashford leave the club.

The banner was a nod to an old protest message to former boss Sir Alex Ferguson from 1989.

A fan held up a banner three years after Fergie's spell at Man Utd saying “Three years of excuses and it's still rubbish… ta ra Fergie”.

Of course, Ferguson only left in 2013, with thirteen league titles, five FA Cups, five League Cups and two Champions Leagues.

For Rashford, an exit seems much more likely. The 27-year-old publicly declared he is “ready for a new challenge” after leaving Ruben Amorim's squad for the Manchester derby.

He told journalist Henry Winter: “For me personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Adding: “If I leave there will be no hard feelings. You won't get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.”

“If I know a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse.

“I've seen other players leave in the past and I don't want to be that person.

“When I leave, I will make a statement, and it will be mine.”

Boss Amorim insisted he was not “sending out a message” with his selection for the 2-1 win over Man City.

But has since claimed he would have liked Rashford to speak to him first before expressing his desire to say goodbye to his eight-year spell as a Man Utd player.

Speaking this week, Amorim said: “If this were me, I would probably speak to the manager.”

Any exit for Rashford from Old Trafford would likely be a costly affair with the star currently tied to a £325,000-a-week contract until 2028.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have both been touted as potential suitors, while rumors continue to swirl that Paris Saint-Germain are rekindling their previous interest in the forward.

Other reports claim Saudi Arabian sides could offer Rashford an escape route from the Theater of Dreams.
