‘A easier fight?’… Jake Paul and Conor McGregor trade verbal barbs in new footage of Washington D.C. run-in

Jake Paul and Conor McGregor exchanged comments in newly released footage of their confrontation at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.

Conor McGregor's meeting with Logan and Jake Paul in Washington DC continues to make waves on social media. After years of banter between the parties online, McGregor and the Pauls came face to face last week while attending Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.

McGregor almost broke the internet when he hinted he had made 'tentative agreements' to face Logan in a boxing match in India. But at the time of writing, nothing has been announced or booked, and the UFC would not be interested in allowing McGregor to box Logan.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise between McGregor and the Pauls, especially after their viral encounters. Although the conversations between McGregor and the Pauls on the way to the inauguration were mostly cordial, there was a lot of nonsense between all parties.

Initially, it appeared McGregor had Logan as his main target as he shared transportation to the inauguration. But in newly released footage, he and Jake had their moments too.

New footage shows Jake Paul accusing Conor McGregor of getting an 'easier fight' with his brother

In the viral footage below, McGregor and Jake exchanged verbal comments surrounding a potential fight. Jake repeatedly called out McGregor earlier in his boxing career to no avail, and Jake questioned McGregor's insistence on facing Logan instead of him.

Jake pointed to his recent success against southpaws as a possible reason why McGregor isn't as eager to face him as he was against Logan. McGregor, who hasn't fought in the UFC in nearly four years, mocked Jake's performances against fellow UFC greats Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz.

Once McGregor and the Pauls went their separate ways upon arriving at the venue, their separation did little to quell tensions. McGregor and Logan had an intense verbal confrontation before both sides cooled down.

In a recent tweet, Jake took a veiled shot at McGregor as he teased his upcoming return to the boxing ring against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. Tommy Fury and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. are two potential candidates for his returning opponent.

McGregor made his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017 and lost by late round TKO. He has been repeatedly teased to return to the boxing ring, most notably against Mayweather's former rival, Manny Pacquiao, before agreeing to face Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

The war of words between Conor McGregor and the Pauls continues

Jake last defeated heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson in November for his fifth straight win. His only career defeat came against Fury in 2023, losing via split decision.

McGregor has not competed in combat sports since a loss to Poirier at UFC 264, during which he suffered a devastating leg injury. He was set to headline UFC 303 against Michael Chandler last June before withdrawing at short notice due to injury.

As he plots a potential Octagon comeback, McGregor is becoming increasingly interested in facing some of boxing's most polarizing personalities, including the Paul brothers. Although he is still under contract with the UFC, it may be a matter of time before McGregor has outside options.
