Aaron Ramsdale only signed for Southampton nine months ago, but the former goalkeeper of Arsenal is expected to leave St. Mary's after the club had gone to the championship
It is expected that former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale Southampton will leave after just one season after the club's relegation to the championship. Ramsdale, 26, only joined the saints as part of a transfer transfer of £ 18 million, possibly rising to £ 25 million, in August 2024.
But after less than a year at St. Mary's, his time could be in the midst of ties with Manchester United and West Ham. That's because Southampton sees a movement for Sunderland's Anthony Patterson as a replacement for Ramsdale, who wants to stay in the Premier League.
Patterterson, who is also viewed by Tottenham and Burnley, cannot win the subject like Sunderland the play-offs of the championship. According to The Sun, manageless Southampton Chiefs are enthusiastic about the 24-year-old, who was born in North Shields.
The saints also do checks on Angers Shot-Stopper Yahia Fofana. The Ivory Coast International is said to be available for around £ 10 million.
Their search for a keeper points to Ramsdale who leaves Southampton after the third relegation of his career. The former Arsenal star suffered the same fate without Bournemouth in 2020 before he went off with Sheffield United the following year.
That did not stop Mikel Arteta from making a move and he was installed as Arsenal's No.1 for two seasons until the arrival of David Raya played the end. After spending the majority of last season on the bench, Ramsdale Noord -Londen decided to leave.
But his dream of rediscovering his form in Southampton and challenging Jordan Pickford to be England No.1's never became a reality. After the early relegation of the saints was confirmed last month, Ramsdale sent an emotional message to supporters.
“A very difficult day and difficult to take,” he posted on Instagram. “This is a special club with great fans – we are sorry that it ended this way. You earn better.

“This club has come back many occasions from adversity and this time there will be no different. Still a lot of football to be played and we will continue to try to save positives from what an extremely difficult season has been. Thank you for staying with us.”
Southampton needs one point of their last three games to prevent the level from being finished with the lowest points in the history of Premier League. The saints only gathered 11 after 35 games, similar to the infamous record of Derby County in the 2008-09 season.
