Abraham on scoring against Roma: ‘It wasn’t nice’

Tammy Abraham admitted that he did not like to score Roma against his parent club after he had helped AC Milan to make progress in the Coppa Italia.

Milan's 3-1 victory over Roma in San Siro booked their place in the semi-final of the competition, where Abraham scored twice in the first half before Joao Felix marked his debut with a second half of a strike.

Abraham became the first Milan player who scored two or more goals against Roma in all competitions since Zlatan Ibrahimovic (October 2020 in the Serie A).

He is also the third player who scores for both clubs in the Coppa Italia in the last 20 seasons (since 2005-06), after Marco Borriello and Stephan El Shaarawy.

“Everyone knows how I feel about Roma, it's a club that means a lot to me. It wasn't fun,” Abraham told the broadcasting media set after he was booed by the road fans.

“I think they thought I was celebrating, but I didn't celebrate it, I just thanked God. This is football, it happens.”

In the meantime, head coach Sergio Concukicao believes that his new signing sessions, Joao Felix, Santiago Gimenez and Kyle Walker, enable him to implement his desired style of football.

Gimenez came from the bank with Joao Felix to combine for Milan's third goal, while Walker played from the start.

Asked after the game whether he saw a parable in Milan with the Porto side with whom he won three Primeira -Ligas, four Taca de Portugal titles, a Taca da Liga and three supertaca candidi the Oliveira Trophies, Concastica The Bradcaster Mediaset told: “I don't see Don the similarities with Porto yet.

“But we work to be more compact, more aggressive, not allowing the opponents to enter our last third part so often.

“We are not there yet, but with the players who have arrived in the transfer window, their characteristics give me the comfort to go to football that I like, also with two strikers and the right balance, not just to score goals , but not admit them. “

Milan (25) became only one of the three teams that had reached the semi -final of Coppa at least 25 times on Wednesday, together with Juventus (36) and Inter (29).

They also extended their undefeated run to 11 games in all competitions in one season for the first time since 2012-13 (13 under Massimiliano Allegri), and Concukica says he is happy with how quickly his players had learned the effects of his game plan.

“We try to pass on the team what we want, but we only had one training session to prepare for this game and I don't have the luxury to work on the details of the game in the training because we have every three days play, “he added.

“Nevertheless, the players accept what we want, they are intelligent, and I am happy today, especially because the second goal came from recovering the ball in midfield quickly. That was something we worked on, so I am happy.

“Joao and Santiago also had only one training session, but immediately understood what their intelligence confirmed.”
