‘Absolutely robbed’… One Direction star leads furious fan reaction as Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 undercard fight ends in controversy

Boxing's ratings problem reared its ugly head during Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2.

Tyson Fury's teammate felt sad when he lost points for losing his gum shield in an earlier fight, but his anger is great compared to what Dave Allen will feel after falling short against rising heavyweight star Johnny Fisher.

As expected, Fisher took an early lead as he seemingly won all of the first four rounds.

However, everything changed when he was hit, injured and fell heavily in the fifth frame.

Boxing fans furious after latest high-profile robbery

Fisher bravely got back to his feet, but it seemed only a matter of time before he was stopped.

Allen turned up the pressure over the next few rounds and continued to land big bombs on his opponent.

'The White Rhino' took his foot off the gas in the tenth and final lap. Still, it looked like he had done more than enough to get the win when the fight went to the three judges at ringside.

There was an audible gasp at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh when a split decision was announced.

The crowd cheered loudly as Fisher pulled off a surprise victory. Allen was carded 96-93 by an official, but that person was overruled by the two other judges who both saw the fight 95-94 for the pre-fight favorite.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, who is from the same city as Allen, led the angry response on social media.

He tweeted: “What an incredible performance from Dave Allen, with so much at stake and so much pressure. Absolutely robbed of the judges. You've done yourself proud, mate!'

Boxing fans agreed with the pop star's take on the fight, while also expressing their frustration with the outcome.

One person said: “That is an absolutely horrific robbery. Johnny Fisher didn't win that fight. I'm not a fan of Dave Allen, but that's a shameful decision. Horrible.”

Another said: “That's a total f***ing robbery.”

Someone else fumed: “Fire the judges #FisherAllen.”

A fourth fan commented: “That's really bad, Johnny Fisher didn't win that fight. Really poor.”

What an incredible performance from Dave Allen with so much at stake and so much pressure. Absolutely robbed of the judges.

You've done yourself proud, buddy!

Dave Allen breaks his silence

Allen fell to the ground in devastation after hearing that his efforts had not been rewarded with a victory.

'The Doncaster De La Hoya' took some time to compose itself before breaking its silence.

“What a night, well done @johnnyfisher1, love you son,” Allen wrote on Instagram.

Fisher has yet to address the controversy surrounding his 13th win in professional boxing.

It seems very likely that we will see Fisher vs Allen 2 sometime in 2025.
