‘Absolutely wrong’…UFC fan favorite defends Alex Pereira against Aljamain Sterling’s UFC 313 criticism

Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling's criticism of Alex Pereira after UFC 313 rubbed a star light in the wrong way.

Alex Pereira's historic UFC Light Heavyweight Tit Reign came abruptly at UFC 313 in Las Vegas last Saturday. Pereira fell to Magomed Ankalaev through a unanimous decision, in which a five-fighter undefeated streak was broken in slightly heavyweight and to give up the 85 pound belt.

While Pereira vs. Ankalaev was competitive from start to finish, Pereira did not look like his usual destructive self at UFC 313. For the time being, he seemed against the removal of Ankalaev and failed to harm Ankalaev considerably with his elite who strived.

After UFC 313, Aljamain Sterling wondered if Pereira's unprecedented fighting activity and pace may have led to his downfall.

Sterling emphasized a potential reason for Pereiras UFC 313 wrestings in a recent segment on his YouTube channel.

“Pereira fights way too often,” said Sterling. “Three title defenses in seven months. That is insanity to do that. And it's not as if his fighting were Pitter-Patter fights. You could say that Jamahal Hill was no damage there. Okay, cool. I understand that …

“There you go out, add to the fact that he bounces back from these fights and he goes back to the gym almost one, maybe two weeks later. You aggravate that with the number of times he spares. When does Pereira give himself his body and his brain and his chin a chance to take a break and simply recover? “

After the comments from Sterling had gone viral, Micano did not last long to weigh during a recent message to X.

“Absolutely wrong, [Pereira] Made between 40 and 50 million last year alone! Moicano answered to Sterling. 'The one who says [Pereira’s] Error still believes in federal currency and social security! “

Pereira led at the front for 2024 Fighter of the Year with three successful light heavyweight title defenses. All three fights resulted in stopping, including a victory of the Come-From-Behind at Khalil Rountree Jr. on UFC 307.

Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira reached a verbal agreement on an immediate rematch

Fortunately for Pereira, he may not have to wait long to get another crack at Ankalaev. According to the new light heavyweight champion Ankalaev, negotiations are already underway later this year for an immediate rematch.

If Pereira chooses to take some free time, Ankalaev could get a UFC Fan favorite for his first title defense. He and Jiri Prochazka have shown in the days after UFC 313, with the two light heavyweights labeling each other as 'fraud'.

The proposed switch from Pereira to heavyweight is on the shelf after UFC 313. Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall are expected to unite the heavyweight titles later this year, and Pereira could possibly be confronted with the winner if he returns the light heavyweight championship.
