AC Milan complete £30m transfer for striker loved by Liverpool boss Arne Slot

Santiago Gimenez – the star of Arne Slot at Feyenoord – has become a member of AC Milan in a deal with a value of approximately £ 30 million.

The Mexican attacker blinded for the Dutch side under lock and scored 23 goals in the 2022-23 campaign, so they won the Eredivisie before catching up 26 the next campaign.

There were reports that Slot could have tried to take Gimenez to Liverpool after his impressive target score record, in combination with the sketchy form of Darwin Nunez.

But Gimenez has now promised his future to AC Milan and has signed a contract until 2029 while he attracts a few legends that played for the club in the footsteps – such as Filippo Inzaghi and Andriy Shevchenko.

The club said: “AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Santiago Tomás Gimenez from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Mexican striker has signed a contract that lasts until June 30, 2029. Gimenez will wear the number 7 shirt.”

Gimenez added: “Hello Milanistas, this is Santiago Gimenez. First of all I want to send you a big hug and say that I will soon see you in San Siro to celebrate many goals. The best.”

Gimenez won three trophies with lock, including the Dutch Cup last season, and earlier this year he suggested that one day he could reunite with the Dutchman in Liverpool in the future – teased a possible step to the Premier League.

“Football is always about the same familiar faces and that is the beauty of football; leave a stamp, friendships around the world, to meet again, greet each other and see each other again,” he told Fox Sports Mexico after he Was requested slot.

“Because I was a child, I have always wanted to be in one of the five best competitions in the world,” he added. “And one of them includes Spain, the Premier League of Italy. I have no preference for one of them and I would like to play in all, why not?”

It comes with Liverpool with a particularly quiet transfer window under lock, which did not make many signing sessions last summer. The only player who arrived was winger Federico Chiesa – who did not start a match in the Premier League.

The club also signed the goalkeeper Giorgi Mhamardashvili van Valencia, although the Georgian star has chosen to postpone his arrival in Anfield until the end of the season.
