AC Milan complete €32m Gimenez deal on deadline day

AC Milan has signed Santiago Gimenez van Feyenoord in a Swoop of € 32 million, with the Mexico International signing a contract of four and a half years in San Siro.

Gimenez, who was born in Argentina but moved to Mexico as a child and won 32 caps for El Tri, who scored four times, joined Feyenoord of Cruz Azul in July 2022.

He scored 65 goals in 105 performances for the Dutch club, so that last season they would win the Eredivisie title in 2022-23 and the KNVB Cup.

He yielded 23 times in 30 Eredivisie traps in the past term, with only 12 players who improved that figure in the top 10 competitions of Europe.

According to Italian media reports, Milan has agreed to pay € 32 million for Gimenez, who will be signed from the transfer window Mid-season after the arrival of Kyle Walker on loan from Manchester City.

The striker, who scored 16 times this season in 19 games, takes over the number seven shirt that has been emptied by Alvaro Morata, who left for Galatasaray for a loan agreement on Sunday.

He could have to deal with a quick reunion with his former club in the Champions League, with Milan and Feyenoord together coupled for the play-off round of the knockout phase.

Milan goes to the Netherlands for the first stage of that draw on 12 February, whereby the return nature takes place six days later.

While players who moved in January were unable to represent their new clubs in the last competition phase matches, they are eligible to play in the next round.

Milan is reportedly also close to the signing of Joao Felix on loan from Chelsea.

The Rossoneri, who pulled 1-1 with Inter in the Derby on Sunday, his eighth in the Serie A-Tafel and will be confronted opposite Roma on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
