AC Milan interested in loan with buy option for Barcelona forward

Both Barcelona and AC Milan have shown interest in Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, but while the Catalan side still have some hope of signing the England international, the Rossoneri have turned their attention elsewhere. One of the names on their shortlist is a Barcelona forward.

Maybe not the one Barcelona had hoped for. Ansu Fati has been left out of the squad for the last three matchdays for purely technical reasons and, despite invitations to borrow more playing time, seems determined to stay in Catalonia. In theory, this also applies to teammate Ferran Torres.

He is the object of Milan's interest. After shifting their focus from Rashford, Torres is one of three names they are looking at, for example GdS (via MD), alongside another United striker in Rasmus Hojlund, and former Barcelona striker Joao Felix. They would like to take out a loan with an option to buy, which could become mandatory depending on the number of games he plays.

No amounts have been mentioned for the option, but they are willing to cover their entire salary for the rest of the season. For their part, the Catalan side have no intention of losing Torres for the rest of the season as they feel he can be useful in the long term. Unless Milan's offer is of significant economic significance, they are unlikely to play ball, so to speak. It is also noted that Torres has 2.5 years left on his contract and half of his €55 million fee remains to be written off.

Barcelona only have Fati and Pau Victor as natural alternatives to their starting three besides Torres, and it seems unlikely that Hansi Flick would approve a departure unless it also leads to reinforcements this month. Torres has struggled with injuries this season, but can score a goal every 87 minutes in a Barcelona shirt this season.
