Real Madrid captain Luka Modric still has to make a fixed decision about a summer -free transfer offer from AC Milan.
Los Blancos has made the daring call not to expand their skipper's contract for the 2025/26 season, and Modric is ready to bring the curtain down in the Spanish capital at 13 incredible years, but he will not retire.
The 39-year-old had previously indicated his wish to sign an extension of a year in Madrid, to play past his 40th birthday in September and lead Croatia at the 2026 World Cup.
The conditions of the current Modric deal means that he will not leave in June, because he is preparing for Real Madrid at the FIFA Club World Cup in the US – that could be July.
Modric has received reported offers from MLS and the Saudi Pro League, but his first choice is to play Reman in Europe and play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Staying in top condition for the World Cup is an important goal for Modric and Serie A Giants AC Milan leading the leadership for him.
Reports from Football Italia have claimed that AC Milan has reached an agreement on personal conditions with the veteran after discussions at the beginning of June.
Despite the rumors, however, Modric has moved to expel those reports by saying that nothing is certain at this stage.
Former AC Milan star and Brazil International Cafu has weighed the movie for Modric and hinted that there is still work to be done to convince him.
“I don't know if Modric will arrive or not. He has experience, and in my opinion he is an investment that can fruit.
“I hope he plays all the games, but it's hard. But he can help in the dressing room and on the field he puts everyone in the right place. When the ball comes to him, everyone seems paralyzed to see what he is doing.”
