Girona star Miguel Gutierrez looked like he had been set this summer, but that can be on the rocks due to a poorly timed injury. The 23-year-old has been a striking performer for the Catalans in the past two seasons.
In earlier summers, Gutierrez is linked to people like Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool and even a return to Real Madrid. Los Blancos has a € 9 million-buyback option on Gutierrez and a sale of 50%, but it seems that they have changed their attention elsewhere.
AC Milan has recently opened conversations with his camp for Gutierrez. They would like to sign him as a replacement for Theo Hernandez, who is on their way to Saudi Arabia. Girona is reportedly asks for a reimbursement of € 25 million, but it is not yet clear whether they are willing to reach that reimbursement.
On Thursday, however, the Catalan side announced that Gutierrez had undergone surgery for an ankle problem. It had had problems with him during the season and forced him to miss a number of games in the spring. His estimated recovery time is six to eight weeks, according to TV3.
If that is the case, Gutierrez will probably look at a return to action in September, and possibly after the international break at the start of the month. That would see him miss the first three games of the season, which is not a dramatic problem for the Michel Sanchez team – if he is still there.
However, it can affect the willingness of Milan, or another club, to spend great on Gutierrez and to rob him of a movement. Gutierrez also has left over his deal for Gutierrez for years, and they will be happy to sell it this summer, unless they can agree a new contract.
