Adam Wharton faces battle to be fit for FA Cup final  after being ruled OUT

Crystal Palace Talisman Adam Wharton is confronted with a struggle to be fit for the FA Cup final after he is excluded from this weekend against Tottenham.

Oliver Glasner confirmed that the midfielder of England had in 'too much pain' to train this week after Wharton was brought out of the draw of Palace with Nottingham Forest after injuring ligaments in his ankle.

Wharton looked good on Friday at Palace's Training Ground and Glasner said he is hopeful that his Star -midfielder will be back in time to face Manchester City in Wembley the following weekend.

“Unfortunately he is not available because he did not train all week, so if everything goes well, we hope that he can be integrated on Monday after the Tottenham match, at least partially, in training,” said Palace -Baas Glasner.

'On Wednesday, when we start to prepare for the final, I hope he is in training with us.

'For me it is 90 percent that he can play [the final] But things can always happen, but Sunday in Tottenham is too early.

“He has too much pain. It's not about taking risks, his ligament is a bit damaged and when he has to run or when he has turned his foot, the pain is just too much. '

This season Wharton has been one of the most important players of Palace on their way to the FA Cup final and has already been associated with interest from clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester City.

“He didn't come to tell me he wants to leave,” added Glasner. 'Now it is not the time to talk about individual futures, now it is about being focused on our upcoming games.

'He works hard that he can train with us next week. He has to train, otherwise he can't play the final. He knows that.

“As soon as I could feel that the spirit of a player is elsewhere, he has no chance to play.”

Tottenham -Baas Ange Postecoglou would do well to choose the brain of Glasner after their competition in the weekend about winning a Europa League.

Postecoglou led Spurs to the final on Thursday with their victory over Bodo/Glimt, a competition that Glasner won with Frankfurt three years ago.

Glasner was full of praise for the performance of the Spurs -Baas, especially when they are confronted by an injury crisis throughout the season.

'I have enormous respect for every manager and every player. Tottenham had many injuries and many games to play. They had a lot of sh*tstorms to overcome.

'I have a huge appreciation for Ange and how he dealt with the situation. It is not always easy to stay calm. We know what happens day after day with your players and when you miss seven, eight, nine starters. '
