The future of Paul Pogba (31) remains up in the air. The Frenchman saw his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months after an appeal to CAS. It means the Frenchman can continue training in January and play again in March 2025.
As his return approaches, the club he will represent remains a mystery. He saw his contract with Juventus terminated by mutual consent last month, with both parties recognizing the need for a fresh start. Pogba is reportedly keen to stay in one of Europe's top five divisions.
Speaking to L'Équipe, he said he would be open to a move to Ligue 1, with former teammate Patrice Evra lobbying for Pogba to join Olympique de Marseille. Adrien Rabiot, a teammate of Pogba both at international level and previously at club level with Juventus, joined OM on a free transfer in September.
He has now 'invited' Pogba to join Les Phocéens. “I would like to play with Paul. We didn't get the chance to play together much because he had quite a few minor injuries. I was very disappointed,” Rabiot said in the mixed zone after Sunday's 2-0 win over AS Saint-Étienne.
He added: “We invite him to come and play for OM […] If he wants to come, it would be a pleasure.” Whether Pogba accepts that invitation, and whether OM's directors formally approach the France international, is a much bigger and more important question.
