Real Madrid will be blocked in their unusual movement to sign a new left side this summer after a strange transfer update.
The original plan of Los Blancos to strengthen the position aimed at a free transfer for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.
After prolonged contract extension discussions in Bavaria, however, the Canada International chose to sign a new deal in the Allianz Arena.
This has activated a large number of other options that merge on the radar of the club with previous Diario reports, indicating that they are watching Benfica defender Alvaro Carreras.
His interest for the Portuguese giants means that they would not be willing to easily give up the 22-year-old with the Spanish star, currently appreciated at around € 60 million.
That was not the end of the case, despite the fact that Real Madrid did not intend to pay that compensation, because they wanted to launch an ambitiously structured offer from it.
Carreras joined Benfica for a deal of € 6 million from Manchester United, and the Red Devils have a return option of € 18 million on him, which could be exercised in 2025.
Ruben Amorim has no room for him in his plans, after the arrival in January of Patrick Dorgu, but they could then sell him with a profit of approximately € 30-35 million, which would fit in with Real Madrid's budget.
Although they seem to be beneficial in Manchester and Madrid for mutual, the player himself and Benfica are not enthusiastic, and his agent Gines Carvajal has ended the speculation.
“I don't know where this news comes from. Everything said is pure invention and does not deserve a comment from me,” he told a Bola, covered via Mundo Deportivo.
“Carreras is doing very well with Benfica and will continue there.”
That comment seems to have drawn a line for the time being if Real Madrid weighs their next move and a potential exit path for Fan Garcia.
