Barcelona seems to have aimed their finances to ensure that they can hold on to their best players in the coming years instead of being big in the following summer or two. However, every sale they can do is invaluable in their efforts to increase their salary limit, and agent Jorge Mendes has informed the Catalan giants that they could be a windfall.
Earlier this month, Mendes met director of Barcelona Director of Football Deco and President Joan Laporta in Lisbon, where they discussed a number of topics. Among them was a new contract for Lamine Yamal, and the future of Ansu Fati, who seems to be far from Camp Nou this summer.
However, Mendes also said that the Blaugrana could soon get an influx of money from the Portuguese capital. Newcastle United, Arsenal and AC Milan have all shown interest in former player Francisco Trincao, and there have even been reports that Manchester United has decided to move for him. According to Sport, that says that Mendes explained the situation to Barcelona, and the fact that they could have more than € 20 million.
The Blaugrana retains a 50% clause on Trincao, after he had sold the 25-year-old two summers ago to Sporting CP for combined € 10 million in loan and transfer costs. The implication is that Trincao could be more than € 40 million in motion in the summer transfer window.
Even with that boost, Barcelona is still to make a loss of almost € 1 million on Trincao, depending on the reimbursement, after he had spent a little less than € 31 million to bring him from Braga in 2020. Nevertheless, it could be crucial for Barcelona, after it was revealed in the past hours that they were unveiled in the recent hours, without making a registration drawings.
