Pioli was forced AC Milan at the end of last season and took the lead in September on the Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, successor to Luis Castro.
Sportitalia says that Pioli is now being sought in Italy, where Roma is enthusiastic.
Roma coach Claudio Ranieri will go aside at the end of this season to take on a management role and Pioli is considered his replacement.
Pioli previously coached Local Rivals Lazio, where he was between 2014 and 2016. It is suggested that he had difficulty setting up in Saudi Arabia this season.
