Al-Taawoun 0-2 Al-Hilal: Defending champions keep within touching distance of summit

Al-Hilal moved back in four points from Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Eittihad while they defeated Al-Taawoun 2-0 on their travels via goals from Mohamed Kanno and Marcos Leonardo.

The Jorge Jesus team fell seven points behind Al-Eittihad when she overcome Al-Riyadh 2-1 on Thursday, where Saleh Al Shehri scored a penalty for 11 minutes in the stopping time.

Despite the fact that Ster-striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was an unused replacement after he had missed the training due to an abnormal heart rhythm earlier this week, Al-Hilal rarely suffered on Saturday.

Salem Al Dawsari helped Kanno when the title defender hit the first attempt in the game for 12 minutes, although they had trouble eliminating the clear opportunities for the rest of the first half.

But Al-Hilal improved after the break and the 75th minute strike by Leonardo was the least they earned after calling the pressure, securing their third consecutive victory.

Although Al-Hilal is four points at the top with a better goal difference than Al-Eittihad, Al-Ahli are fifth place after admitting two stop-time goals in a 2-1 loss at Al Akhdoud.

Al-Ahli's own goal of Damion Lowe brought Al-Ahli ahead halfway through the first half, but Saleh Al Abbas equalized five minutes in the second half of the stop time, then Savior Godwin hit a dramatic winner in the ninth minute.

Debrief data: Leonardo keeps shooting

The most important title rivals of Al-Hilal, Al-Eittihad, saw important men Steven Bergwijn and Houssem Aouar Limp from their victory over Al-Riyadh on Thursday.

And Jesus was here without his most important attacker in Mitrovic, but Leonardo stepped up to continue his excellent form this season.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo (19) has improved his 17 Saudi Pro League goals this season, with those strikes from opportunities worth 14.67 expected goals (XG).

Leonardo's Scot Conversion Latis of 25.76% is the best of the six players who scored at least 15 times in the competition this season.
