
Alan Shearer has mentioned reigning champions Real Madrid as the favorites to once again awarded Europe's cream.
The Newcastle United Legend was blown away by their performance against Manchester City, while the side of Carlo Ancelotti defeated the wrestling Premier League title holders with 6-2, aggregated with Kylian Mbappe who scored a hat trick in the second stage on Wednesday evening in the Bernabeu.
And with City, one of the antipost favorites, now, Shearer thinks it will be difficult for everyone to stop a front three from Mbappe, Rodrgyo and Vinicius Junior.
“They look very dangerous, Real Madrid, after having had one or two bad results in the league matches,” said Shearer in the rest is a football podcast. “Two versions against City, both at home and road, that will send a huge warning to the rest of Europe in terms of teams that are left behind.
“They know it's their competition, they know how well they are doing and they excel in it and they have to win.”
Asked if Real Madrid should be installed as favorites, Shearer replied: “Yes, I would place them absolutely favorites. Absolutely.”
Ancelotti was a defense against City without his first choice because of injuries, but Shearer added that Jude Bellingham should consider it “a dream” to have such a dominant attack for him.
“It must be a dream, a treat, for those guys with the amount of opportunities they create and the amount of competence they have. So Real Madrid is very, very strong and they are without a doubt gaining my favorites.”
The draw for the round of 16 took place on Friday morning with a real set to face Atletico Madrid in a wonderful collision. Go through and Arsenal can stand in the way in the quarterfinals- the gunners have been pulled against PSV in the last 16.
