Alarm bells sound at PSG over Dembélé ahead of Club World Cup

Ousmane Dembélé runs the risk of missing various competitions during the upcoming club World Cup. The winner of the Champions League is hunting to win the Ballon d'Or, but will be put aside after a quadriceps injury in his left thigh during the semi-final of the Nations League against Spain. The PSG player left the French training camp on Saturday and, according to Le Parisien, will miss the group stage of the new FIFA tournament and may not return to the promotion until the beginning of July.

The PSG striker was named MVP at the Champions League final and his absence will be a big blow to the Paris team that will make their debut next Sunday (June 15) in the Club World Cup against Atlético Madrid. The French champions are then confronted with Botafogo and will close their group campaign against Seattle Sounders on 23 June.

PSG setback

His absence is a setback in front of Luis Enrique who counted on Dembélé in an attempt to add their recent UCL wins. In France, head coach Deschamp's was criticized because he played the winger only four days after the efforts of the Champions League final and subsequent parties in the French capital.

According to Le Parisien, PSG will not use the transfer market to make up for the absence of Dembélé, as he is expected to return at the beginning of July. The transfer market, which is only open to the World Cup Club, closes on 10 June and Luis Enrique has full confidence in its existing attackers. Barcola, who also left the French team with a knee injury, should be available on Sunday for the debut against Atlético Madrid in Pasadena.
