Alejandro Garnacho only wants to become a member this summer
Chelsea has performed their pursuit of Manchester United wing player Alejandro Garnacho with the Old Trafford Outcast not willing to go somewhere else. The 21-year-old is part of Ruben Amorim's 'Bomb Squad', who is frozen next to Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
Rashford has since been a member of Barcelona on loan with an option to buy, but the other four players are still in situ. However, Garnacho could be set to get his move away, with Chelsea ready to offer him a new start.
According to athletics, conversations about a deal for Garnacho 'advanced' and the player would have been 'excluded this summer this summer' except at Chelsea or at United.
Chelsea has had a long -term interest in Garnacho and it is claimed that he expects the move to happen. Garnacho and Amorim fell out after the winger was gestured for the last defeat of United's Europa League against Tottenham.
Immediately after the final, Garnacho was critical of Amorim and reporters told: “It is difficult for everyone. The season was S ***, both now lost the final tonight, and in the competition, where we have not defeated anyone, that is the truth.
“Until the final I played every round and today to play for 20 minutes … I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”
And to the question of the future of Garnacho earlier this month, Amorim said: “I think you can understand with Garnacho and you can see that he is talented, he is a real talented boy. But sometimes things do not work and you cannot specifically explain what it is.
“But I have the feeling – and I think it's clear – that Garnacho wants something different with a different leadership and I can understand that.
“So I don't think it's a problem. Sometimes you adjust to one man and you have the connection. Other times you want a new challenge.
“So we try to make up for everything for all parties. To the club, to the coach and the player. It's a natural thing in football.”
United has renewed their attacking department this summer after scoring a meager 44 league goals in the past term. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already been accompanied by Brentford and Wolves respectively, where Benjamin Sesko is now approaching a movement.
The RB Leipzig striker had a deal agreed to sign for the Red Devils on Thursday after he had rejected a newcastle offer from Newcastle. Sesko will now fly to Manchester, his medical completed before the weekend, with an announcement that is expected shortly thereafter.
