Alejandro Garnacho told to leave Man Utd as Matheus Cunha verdict issued

Former Premier League defender Bacary Sagna gave his opinion about the future of Alejandro Garnacho and the interest of Manchester United in Wolves star Matheus Cunha

Alejandro Garnacho has been encouraged to leave Manchester United this summer, while the concern has been expressed about the interest of the Red Devils in Matheus Cunha. United is ready for a big summer on the transfer market, in which Ruben Amorim wants to renew his team after a gloomy campaign.

United is currently 14th and are planned for their worst Premier League finish, although they can still qualify for the Champions League of the following season when they win the Europa League. Both income and expenses are expected this summer and United pushing ahead with a £ 62.5 million movement for Cunha.

The attacker is an important player for Wolves this season and has received 12 league goals, but former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna is not convinced that a move to Old Trafford is the right one for Cunha.

“Playing for wolves and playing for Manchester United are both different types of pressure,” said Sagna Paddy Power. “It's about how you deal with that pressure, with your teammates and a different atmosphere.

“Matheus Cunha is a top player and is very creative. He is very quickly on the ball if he plays for Brazil. It would be a good signature, but I am not sure if it is the right signing for Manchester United.

“Every player can have a good impact on Manchester United. It is not just one player, it is about the whole team. It will still be an amazing signature, but if it means that it is only him to turn the old team into a successful one – then I don't know for sure.”

Sagna also suggested that Garnacho should leave Old Trafford this summer, and claims that United is not the “right” suitable for the 20-year-old. “Manchester United has to renew their team,” Sagna added.

“Mason Mount did not give the impact they had expected – so he could leave. We haven't seen much of him. I think it's the right time for Alejandro Garnacho to continue.

“He started well, but he is at a stage where he has to play more consistently. It doesn't seem good to him to be at Manchester United.

“The defense is outdated – so maybe bring in more young and fresh players. You can't change the entire team, but they first have to concentrate on the keeper.

“They need a keeper who doesn't play with his feet. A keeper has to dive and stop the balls. Nowadays people and coaches are too focused on someone who can play with their feet.

“Before you can play with your feet, you have to stop taking too many risks. Manchester United has made too many mistakes and admit too many goals.”
