Alex Pereira is undoubtedly one of the largest MMA hunters in the world at the moment.
Dana White thinks he could be the pound-for-pound number one on UFC 313 on Saturday evening.
If 'Patan' defeats Magomed Ankalaev this weekend, he will break a slightly heavyweight title defense record from Jon Jones, which is generally considered the best MMA hunter of all time after dominating the sport for years.
At the moment, some people forget that Alex Pereira is a relative newcomer in sport, who only started taking it seriously when his kickboxing career ended in 2020.

Alex Pereira's disastrous MMA debut
In October 2015, Pereira made his MMA debut against 3-0 hunter Quemuel Ottoni.
The future UFC -Superster started well when he dismissed wrestling attacks and even showed a number of gripping skills while hunting and reversed.
Ottoni eventually managed to get the top position and to put himself about a victory in the first round but the bell sounded to see Pereira to allow the second Stanza.
The 37-year-old rocked Ottoni with a huge punch before he emissions with a huge attack of bumps. Amazingly enough, the opponent of Pereira survived the barrage and started to take over as the round went on.
In round three, Ottoni Pereira quickly brought down and locked up a second-hand choke entrance to force the tap.
The favorite of the Brazilian fan was bloody, bruised and depressed when the official decision was read.
Fortunately that was not the last we saw from him in the MMA cage, who has become home in recent years.
Alex Pereira Eyes Oleksandr usyk fight
On Wednesday, UFC boss Dana White announced that he is launching a boxing liga with Turki Alalshikh.
The news came just a few weeks after Boks -Superster Oleksandr called usyk Pereira for a 'show fight'.
“I jumped with joy when I saw the announcement,” said Pereira in Portuguese on UFC 313 Media Day.
He added: “Maybe September. Saudi Arabia. I was the first to show interest, and then Utyk showed interest. And now we must see the importance of the organizations. I'm ready. “
Pereira will struggle to make the fight happen because White has excluded that they make crossover attacks.
“No, never,” he told Pat McAfee, who asked if he will see more UFC hunters coming into the square circle.
“I'm sure there are guys who want to box, but I literally don't want to see that.
“We keep the boxers in boxing and the MMA boys in MMA.”
