Alex Pereira joined exclusive club with Conor McGregor and Jon Jones at UFC 313 despite title defeat

Alex Pereira was added to a club last night with only two other members, despite losing his world title to Magomed Ankalaev.

Pereira's performance in 2024 was the legend's stuff when he defended his belt three times in six months, including memorable headliners at UFC 300 and UFC 303 in Las Vegas. It was such a dominant and fast run that he became an almost mythical star of the division.

And when Bruce Buffer introduced him last night in the cage seconds before the UFC 313 Main Event, the use of four words placed him in an exclusive club. He is only accompanied by Jon Jones and Conor McGregor, who essentially confirms his place as legend.

Before a blow was thrown in Las Vegas last night, Alex Pereira was admitted to a special club that only includes Jones and Conor McGregor from Bruce Buffer. During his introduction, 'Patan' '' The One, the Only 'was called, which is a rare honor that gave legends of the game.

McGregor experienced it for the first time when he returned to Donald Cerrone after a year and a half in January 2020 when he came into action after a year and a half. Eventually he won the fight within 40 seconds and still let him be able to compete at a top level.

Jones was the second to hear it and was introduced as such when he made his return to heavyweight to combat Ciryl Gane and Stipe Miocic. Unfortunately for Pereira this means that he joins McGregor as a man who has lost after hearing the iconic intro.

Unfortunately for Pereira, the result did not go on his way last night when he suffered his second defeat under the UFC banner. He struggled to get out of first gear and was eventually held enough against the cage to cost him the belt.

However, he has already identified a number of problem areas and seemed challenging in a video on social media that he shared after the fact. “That is everyone, some points, but I'm good, I'm going to rest a bit, I'm coming back as I have always done,” he started explaining in a video on his social media.

“This has happened before, but I'm good. I am grateful for all your support, for all your love and always support me. I am here with my people, my family and my team … everyone is here with me.

“I'm going to have some pizza, that's that, life goes on … I'm going to make some adjustments for the Rematch and I am much better back, you can count on it … Chama!”
